A opportunity sustainable conscious participatory
for the river tourism
After a continuous inflation process that lasted 12 hours, Portuaria Corral successfully completed the commissioning of the largest industrial dome in the Americas, marking a milestone both for the port industry and for the development of sustainable infrastructure in southern Chile.
The project involves the construction of a 20,000 m² geodesic dome, 30 meters high, to cover the wood chip storage area in the Miraflores sector of Valdivia. This will improve the quality of the product, reduce its humidity, and reduce its environmental impact.
The Design
Elisa Cordero Jahr, designer and acedemic at Austral University of Chile, developed 5 design proposals for the Dome.
These were built based an exclusive colour palette of the Los Ríos Region.
